Top women to watch at FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup 2023

JERUSALEM (Israel) -The best women players in the world are ready to fight for the continental crown at the FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup 2023 on September 5-7.

As we count down to this year's biggest event in Europe, let's look at the top players to watch.

Laetitia Guapo (France)

The bigger the stage, the better Laetitia Guapo performs. She's got more medals than Usain Bolt having claimed MVP at the Crelan FIBA 3x3 World Cup 2022 and she was also part of France's triumph at the FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup 2022

The winning continued this year with Guapo part of France's silver medal team as she poured in a staggering 45 points to be once again named in the Team of the Tournament.

France's chances of a title defense look good with Guapo leading from the front.

 Noortje Driessen (Netherlands)

The insanely skilled 24-year-old is all power with the towering 6ft (1.82m) player unstoppable when she attacks the rim and she's an elite defender too.

Driessen is ready to return to the event she achieved her breakout having won silver at Europe Cup 2022.

She's been super consistent on this season's Women's Series averaging 5.3 ppg. If her deadly inside-outside game gets going then the Netherlands might just win their first gold medal.

Sandra Ygueravide (Spain)

Spain have been one of the best performers at the Europe Cup and they always show a lot of passion.

Underlining that is Sandra Ygueravide, who is the heart and soul of her team every time she steps on the half-court.

She left her blood, sweat and tears in Paris after leading Spain to an emotional FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup 2021 victory ending years of heartbreak.

The Speedy Ygueravide just keeps getting better and we can't wait for her to give it everything she's got for her beloved Spain.

Dor Saar (Israel)

Leading the home heroes is this 24-year-old who has enjoyed a breakout season on the Women's Series.

The speedy 5ft. 5in (1.65) Saar has some mean handles and dishes out mighty fine dimes too. But don't think she's just a playmaker.

Oh no, Saar can heat up from distance and make it rain with two-pieces.

Klaudia Papp (Hungary)

Talk about speedy players and we just have to mention 27-year-old Klaudia Papp, who has been lighting up the Women's Series during the past two seasons.

Even though she's just 5ft. 6in (1.68m), Papp is relentless attacking the basket and can score at the rim whenever she wants. She averages 5.4 ppg on the Women's Series but this is just the start.

You just know Papp will be hungry for an international breakout at the Europe Cup.

Joana Soeiro (Portugal)

We all know the  28-year-old has insane dance moves. But she also turns heads through her nasty game on the half-court, where Joana Soeiro can make the Wilson groove and her playmaking skills are off the charts.

She's been part of Portugal's rise in 2023 and they can claim their biggest ever prize by shocking the world at the Europe Cup.

Kamile Nacickaite (Lithuania)

'Special K' is an absolute walking bucket. You knew that already after she led scoring at the FIBA 3x3 Crelan World Cup 2022 and she's been on fire in the Women's Series with an insane 7.6 ppg - the highest for anyone playing more than five games.

The 5ft. 11in (1.81m) lethal Lithuanian is one of the very best players in the world and she's flying the flag for her proud hoops country in women's 3x3.

Sonja Greinacher (Germany)

The towering German superstar has again been one of the very best players in 2023 with an average of 7.2 ppg on the Women's Series and she'll be out to make the paint her personal playground in Jerusalem.

The 6ft. 3in (1.9m) Greinacher is determined to get back to the No.1 ranking, but more importantly she is eyeing lifting Germany to a first-ever World Cup title.

She was incredible in Europe Cup 2021, where she led Germany to silver but it's been a drought for Germany since on the big stage. Greinacher will be determined to end that in trademark formidable style.
