Stojacic and Serbia men's 3x3 team showered with prestigious awards

MIES (Switzerland) - Strahinja Stojacic, the No.1 player in the world, and Serbia's spectacular men's 3x3 team were honored with prestigious awards from their country's Olympic Committee. 

After submitting arguably the most dominant individual season ever, where he claimed four MVPs on the World Tour and also two more trophies at the World Cup and Europe Cup, Stojacic was crowned Serbia's most successful individual in team sports for 2023.  

 

"I would like to thank the Olympic Committee of Serbia and the Ministry of Sports for this great award, it is an honor and a privilege," Stojacic said.

"This award, of course, means a lot to me personally, but I wouldn't have gotten it without my teammates and coaching staff. We will certainly do our best to work hard, to be ready to welcome Paris (Olympics) and I hope we will return with a gold medal."

Serbia's 3x3 juggernaut - led by Stojacic - were recognized as the country's most successful men's team for 2023. 

Mighty Serbia completed a successful title defense and claimed a remarkable sixth gold medal from eight World Cups with an epic victory over USA in maybe the GOAT game on the half-court.

They also won an incredible fifth straight Europe Cup title after MVP Stojacic hit the Maurice Lacroix buzzer-beating two to defeat Lithuania in a thrilling final. 

"A great year is behind us, we won the World and European Championships once again. After the Olympic Games in Tokyo, we won five gold medals in a row," 3x3 superstar Dejan Majstorovic said.

"We hope to continue this streak this year as well. The Olympic Games in Paris is the most important competition for us, we hope to bring home the brightest medal ."

 

Among the other winners, tennis superstar Novak Djokovic was named Serbia's most successful athlete for the 10th time.
