Spain and France make statement on Day 4 at FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup 2022

26 Aug 2022

DEBRECEN (Hungary) - France (men) and Spain (women) closed the pool stage undefeated at the FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup 2022 in Debrecen, Hungary, on August 26.

THE TEAMS

Spain's women, who won silver last year, finished on top of Pool A as one of the only 4 teams undefeated on the women's side. The Spaniards  defeated New Zealand first and then survived a thriller against Germany today thanks to a buzzer-beating two-pointer, courtesy of Alicia Florez,

France's men were unstoppable in Pool C. Not only did they defeat Dominican Republic and USA on their first day of pool play. Today, they powered through last year's U17 Europe Cup runners-up Estonia (22-14) and winners Slovenia (19-14) to top their pool on their way to the quarter-finals.

THE PLAYER

ALICIA FLOREZ! We already said she was clutch with that game-winner against Germany. She simply leads Spain in scoring (and ranks third overall in the women's category) and is making a case for a potential MVP award.
