Portugal and USA stand out on Day 3 at FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup 2022

DEBRECEN (Hungary) - Portugal (men) and USA (women) had a perfect record on Day 3 at the FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup in Debrecen, Hungary, on August 25, 2022.

THE TEAMS

Reigning champs USA dominated the women's field on Day 3 in Debrecen and finished pool play undefeated. The squad topped Pool D after 2 more wins before the limit against Kyrgyzstan (21-4) and Ukraine (21-12). Actually, their game against Kyrgyzstan is the second fastest game of the tournament so far with 6'02 playing time.

Last year's MVP Mikaylah Williams led the US in scoring with a total of 20 points today (10 per game) and finished the pool stage with 37 overall.

Portugal had to win both games to advance to the quarter-finals and they did not disappoint as they survived a thriller against Mongolia (17-16) and then dominated Kyrgyzstan ( 21-15) to secure a spot in the knock-out rounds. Danilo Borges, with 18 points today, led the Portuguese squad to an historic moment as they clinched the quarter-finals spot in their first-ever 3x3 U18 World Cup participation.

Rokas Jocys is taking Debrecen by storm! The Lithuanian wonderkid is not just Juste Jocyte's brother. This dude led all scorers after 3 days of competition with 45 points in 4 games (11.3 per game) and is already making a big case for MVP.
