 Who are the favorites?

Defending champions Egypt are strong favorites to go back-to-back after double delight in 2019.

The men's team are the top seed and hoping to put on a show for the home fans.  Expectations are high after they upset Slovenia during the Crelan FIBA 3x3 World Cup 2022 in a glimpse of their potential.

Walking bucker Ahmed Mohamed starred at the World Cup and looms as a major drawcard in Cairo. The 6ft. 7in (2.01m) stud can flat out hoop as shown during his clowning of Slovenia with a game high 8 points and he scored 20 points overall in  4 games.

Egypt's main threat for gold is likely to be No.2 seed Kenya, who headline Pool B, and Africa Cup 2019 silver medalist Democratic Republic of Congo. Djack Kapongo has dominated 3x3 for years in his home land and returns from that effort three years ago determined to go one better.

Egypt women's are also hot favorite and want to stamp themselves as 3x3's African powerhouse. Their chances look bright with superstar Soraya Mohamed back at the event she flat out dominated three years ago.

She pulled out all the party tricks to win the MVP and become the Queen of Africa. The 27-year-old doesn't want to give up that title as Mohamed aims to be the best player on the continent.

She'll combine in a deadly one-two punch with towering Meral Abdelgawad, who's unstoppable inside the paint and was part of Egypt's World Cup 2022 campaign.

Egypt's biggest rivals for the title appear to be Kenya and Democratic Republic of Congo.

Don't miss a minute of the action as Africa's biggest even returns with a bang.
