Egypt win double at FIBA 3x3 U17 Africa Cup 2022

CAIRO (Egypt) - Hosts Egypt won gold in both the men's and women's categories at the FIBA 3x3 U17 Africa Cup 2022 in Cairo, Egypt, on December 1-2.

In the men's category, Egypt won gold in a breathtaking final against the Democratic Republic of the Congo 20-17.  Karim Elgizawy led the gold-medal winners in the final with 9 points while the tournament MVP Bahaa Ramadan contributed with 5. He jas joined in the Team of the Tournament by David Akim from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rami Younous, who won bronze for Morocco and finished as top scorer of the competition.

In the women's side, Egypt dominated the competition from the first game and won gold defeating the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the final 21-3. Egypt's top scorer Maya Sayed, who had 5 points in the final, was named MVP and was joined in the Team of the Tournament by women's top scorer Charly Mbambo (DRC) and Aya Elkalali, who led Morocco to the bronze medal.
