Best games to watch at FIBA 3x3 World Tour Debrecen Masters 2020

28 Aug 2020

DEBRECEN (Hungary) – With the pools set for the Debrecen Masters on August 29, we take a closer look at some of the best matchups set to take place over the coming week.

Sakiai vs. Utena  (4.10pm GMT+2 - local time in Hungary)

These two teams are very familiar with one another, having played at the Hoptrans3x3 event last month. Utena Uniclub came out on top in the final stop, an intense contest that went down to the wire. These two will be battling for a spot on the bracket in Debrecen and with their history, we can be in store for quite a contest.

Riga vs. Piran (1.55pm)

This matchup gives us the 3rd (Riga) and 7th (Piran) ranked teams in the FIBA 3x3 team rankings going up against one another. Karlis Lasmanis has recently come out and stated that he and his teammates have aspirations of winning all three World Tour events. Before they do that, they will need to get past Piran and Simon Finzgar aka 'The Sphinx', the 15th ranked player in the world.

Sakiai vs. NY Harlem (2.20pm)

On one hand, you have Sakiai, a team that has been playing together in recent weeks and come in ranked 6th in the world team rankings. On the other hand, it’s hard to every bet against ‘Disco Domo’ Jones and his NY Harlem squad. Jones has not played competitive 3x3 games since December of 2019, which means we may either see a little rust or a player ready to burst out of the gate and lead his team to World Tour glory.

Novi Sad vs. Amsterdam (1.30pm)

We can’t make a list of must-watch games and exclude Novi Sad. This Pool B matchup is one to watch as Amsterdam, the 9th ranked team in the world, will test their game against the reigning champs. Will we see an upset on our hands or will Dusan Bulut continue his dominance of the World Tour?
