XI'AN (FIBA 3x3 World Cup 2018) - Turkmenistan's men had the upset of the year when they took down Serbia on Day 1 while just 6 teams had a perfect record on Day 1聽at the FIBA 3x3 U23 World Cup 2018 in China on October 3.
Merdan Hojamedov hit maybe the biggest shot in Turkmenistan's basketball history when he connected from long range on the Tissot Buzzer Beater against Serbia (21-19).

Things didn't go as well in their second game against China (6-22) but Turkmenistan are still in the race to make it to the quarter-finals of the FIBA 3x3 U23 World Cup.聽
China were the only undefeated team in Pool C after winning a hard-fought 21-17 win against Slovenia.
In Pool A, Hungary, led by Attila Demeter went merciless against Estonia (21-18) and Mongolia (15-12) in their two first games on the day. Nevertheless, they are not on top of Pool A as Latvia took care of Mongolia (21-14) and Indonesia (22-7), with her better point average. Get the popcorn ready for their match-up on Day 3.聽

Men's action is back tomorrow with Pools B and D ready to hit the floor in Xi'an.
Ukraine impressed in the women's category with two wins against 3x3 powerhouse Netherlands (16-14) and Kazakhstan (15-7) to finish Day 1 on top of Pool B. Games were a highlight reel with Tissot Buzzer Beaters and the ankle-breaker of the tournament courtesy of Belarus' Anastasiya Sushchyk.

Iran and Russia dominated Pool D after defeating Andorra (21-11) and Sri Lanka (21-5) on the one hand and Malaysia (21-12) and Andorra (16-10) on the other hand. Women's games will be back tomorrow with Pools A and C making their debuts in the competition.
