25 Oct 2017

ULAANBAATAR (FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup) - With the 2nd edition of the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup approaching (October 27-29), here’s a look at the top 5 women who should make some noise in Mongolia.

Jess Bygate (New Zealand)
• 25 years old
• 1.87m

After dominating the paint for the New Zealand basketball team, Bygate is now bringing her talents to the 3x3 game. There should be a lot of second chances for the ladies in black in Mongolia with Bygate and 6ft 1in (1.86m) Deena Franklin controlling the boards.

Solange Gunawijeya (SRI)
• 26 years old
• 1,77m

Top model, Miss Sri Lanka, traveller, basketball player... Is there anything the 26-year-old can't do? We know she can get buckets too!

Nadezha Kondrakova (KAZ)
• 28 years old
• 1,92m

After shining at youth level (silver at the U18 Asia Cup last year), Kazakhstan are ready to make a big splash in the senior category. And speaking of big, the team called up their basketball star, the tallest player at the event, 1.92m Nadezha Kondrakova.

Guzal Sharipova (KGZ)
• 18 years old
• 1,60m
• Ranking: 357

If there's a player who will have a  hard time guarding Kondrakova, it's the pocket-sized Sharipova aka the shortest player at the event. The Instagram sensation is not just a selfie specialist, she can also shoot like Katniss Everdeen. After catching our eye at the 3x3 U18 Asia Cup in the last 2 years, the teenager is now trying to make an impression at the senior level.

Shireen Vijay Limaye (IND)
• 22 years old
• 1,84m

At just 22, Vijay is actually a 3x3 pioneer. Six years ago, she competed in the first-ever 3x3 World Cup, the FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup 2011 in Rimini, Italy. She's finally back on the 3x3 court to show Amjyot Singh is not the only baller in India.
