Top 5 reasons to watch the 3x3 World Tour Utsunomiya Masters
28 Jul 2017
UTSUNOMIYA (FIBA 3x3 World Tour) - The FIBA 3x3 World Tour is going back to Utsunomiya for the 2nd Masters of the season and we’re giving you 5 reasons to watch the event all weekend!
At 1, they’re back like the Starks. 3x3 star Dusan Domovic Bulut and his Novi Sad Al Wahda team are back after winning in Utsunomiya last year. For the 1st time in a long time, they’re not the number one seed at a World Tour event but don’t sleep on Mr Bullutproof cause he can come back like Jon Snow.
At 2, they won the 1st Masters of the season, they’re the reigning champs and the new number one, Team Ljubljana are back in Japan. And not a day passes without us hoping for a Novi Sad Al Wahda – Ljubljana matchup in Utsunomiya.
At 3, it’s the return of Michael Money in the Bank Hicks. The Panda, the best trashtalker on the 3x3 circuit. His team may have changed name (from Gdansk to Krakow R8 Basket) but the game is still there. The Japanese fans are gonna love the Polish sniper.
At 4, be ready for one of the best dunk contests of the season. You liked Chris Staples in Nantes? You liked Justin ‘Jus Fly’ Darlington in Saskatoon? Look, we’re even chipping in Aro from Poland. Get the popcorn ready already!
But one of the biggest reasons to watch is the absolutely stunning venue right in the heart of Utsunomiya, with the Tori gate in the background and one of the most famous shrines in the region just behind the tribunes. Where urban culture meets tradition. And some of the most passionate fans in the world. 3x3 is big in Japan, the 3x3 Olympic Tournament in Tokyo 2020 is going to be something special, gents.
