Serbia's men and Russia's women win FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup France Qualifier 2017

POITIERS (FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup France Qualifier 2017) Just three days after becoming World Champions, both Serbia and Russia won the FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup France Qualifier and qualify - together with another 9 teams - for the FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on July 7-9.

In the men's category, no one could stop the number one 3x3 player in the world Dusan Domovic Bulut, who finished the event as top scorer with 38 points, defeating hosts France in the final in a packed Place du Maréchal-Leclerc.

The reigning World Champs finished the competition undefeated, but it wasn't a walk in the park as they almost fell against Hungary in the semi-finals.

France, led by a spectacular Gentil, defeated World Cup silver medalists, the Netherlands, in the other semi-final.

In the women's category, Russia avenged a one-point pool loss against Spain by defeating them in the final (18-15). The towering Anastasia Logunova (Russia) led all scorers with 38 points in 5 games. the Spanish one-two punch of Palomares (34) and Mediavilla (32) finished second and third respectively. 

In shocking fashion, World Cup 2017 bronze medalists Ukraine won't participate in the Europe Cup next July!

Ganna Zarytska's team were upset by Ireland in the quarter-finals and by Serbia in the loser's bracket.

Ireland's women will make their second appearance at the Europe Cup, 3 years after finishing 11th in Bucharest, Romania.

Overall, 11 teams secured their ticket to the FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup 2017, which will be held in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on July 7-9.

Women: Spain, Czech Republic, Ireland, Russia, France and Serbia

Men: Serbia, Hungary, France, Turkey and Switzerland. (Since the Netherlands - who finished 4th - were already qualified as hosts, the next team in the standings qualified for the event)
