BEIRUT (FIBA 3x3 World Tour) – Lebanese 3x3 star Alaa El Din Arnaout will make his third straight appearance at the FIBA 3x3 World Tour in Manila on 1-2 August, after winning the Lebanese 3x3 Quest organised by Y9 Sports, headed by Yasser El-Hajj, and broadcast live on national television OTV.
Sixteen teams participated in the tournament, which consisted of two stages and a final staged in Zaitunay Bay, an entertainment destination and touristic attraction in Beirut Marina on 28 June. With a big crowd in attendance including the second Vice president of the Lebanese Federation, presidents of clubs, Lebanese basketball stars - not to mention a former Miss Lebanon! - Team Beirut (known as “Easy Money” at the Tournament) prevailed.
The team features several first-league professional players including Arnaout, Ribal Bechara, Tarek Merhebi and Omar Al-Ayoubi. Arnaout makes his return to the World Tour, after leading his team to 8th place at the Beijing Masters last year and 5th place at the 2013 Tokyo Masters. Al-Ayoubi also featured on that Beirut team that year.
Team Beirut becomes the 7th team to qualify for the Manila Masters (after Auckland (NZL), Doha (QAT), NoviSad AlWahda (UAE), Kobe (JPN), Ljubljana (SLO) and Medan (INA)). The event will be staged in the Robinsons Galleria, one of the most iconic shopping malls in Manila on 1-2 August 2015.
