14 Aug 2014

DUBAI (3x3) - After ten years of bringing 3x3 events to Romania,  Sport Arena Streetball, together with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Basketball Association, is organising a series of tournaments in Dubai.

A first event took place on 7-8 August at Al Ahli Club. It was only the third-ever 3x3 event on UAE soil. Almost 100 players took part and had a chance to enjoy the games of the FIBA U17 World Championships (5on5) and to showcase their own skills on the 3x3 basketball court.

The action will move to Hamdan Sports Complex on 15-16 August where a 3×3 official basketball court will be set up inside the five star facility as part of a side event to the FIBA U17 World Championships and organised by the UAE Basketball Association and Dubai Sports Council, together with their partners, Pilipinas Premiere League and Event Management, Extra International Sport, Hoops Basketball Academy Dubai and Sport Arena. Everybody can take part in the competition, from kids to adults and even those who will not participate in the games can be part of the show by joining the individual contests for spectators.

Teams from Open and U18 categories can register via the FIBA portal, www.3x3planet.com, while the teams for U14 category can register via the contact form on www.3x3uae.com. The tournament is FIBA-endorsed, so each player will gain points in the FIBA 3x3 Individual World Ranking.

The registration is free and a total prize money of 1,000 USD will be awarded.

After these two events, the development of 3x3 basketball in UAE and the Gulf Region will continue with the creation of the first-ever 3x3 UAE Tour.
