3x3 - Dusan Domovic Bulut becomes new number one 3x3 player in the world

9 Oct 2013

MIES (3x3) - Following the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Final staged in Istanbul on 4-5 October 2013, where he led all scorers and his Novi Sad team reached the final, Dusan Domovic Bulut has replaced Ljubljana's Simon Finzgar on top of the 3x3 individual world ranking with 551,758 points.

The super-skilled Serb edges two Slovenian players with 2013 FIBA 3x3 World Tour winners Blaz Cresnar and Jasmin Hercegovac ranking second and third.

The 27-year-old sported a thick beard in Istanbul and announced he would only shave when he becomes the number one 3x3 player in the world.

After his win at the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Prague Masters on 25 August, Bulut told FIBA.com: "To be the best in the world is what I wanted to be since I was a little".

The 1.92m sharpshooter - who won the FIBA 3x3 World Championships representing Serbia last season - climbed up the 3x3 world ranking thanks to his outstanding performances in the last 12 months.

Rankings points are collected at all FIBA-endorsed events (and pick-up games).

For the World Tour (and World Championships) events, additional ranking points are allocated based on individual scoring statistics.

Only the top six performances are taken into account for the ranking.

Bulut’s six 2013 highlights*:
9 June: Winner at the 3x3 Kragujevac (Serbian Quest stage) - 55,200 ranking points
13 July: 3rd at the Moscow open - 58,800 ranking points
28 July: Winner at the Raiffeisen Bank Bucharest Challenger - 82,800 ranking points
12 August: 6th at the 3x3 Serbia National Final Championship - 38,400 ranking points

5 October: 2nd at the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Istanbul Final - 147,772 ranking points (including 15,772 based on individual scoring statistics)

*Bulut also played four pick-up games in February and March earning 100 ranking points in the process.
